Apologies if something like this has been posted. I tried searching but the search functionality wouldn't allow me to simply enter TN.
Anyways, I'm going for my Green Card from a TN status (I'm Canadian) with my wife (an American) as my sponsor. I'm going over my paperwork again and again to make sure I have everything right (because if I mess up I won't have a work permit and I won't be able to renew my TN.)
1.) On the I-485 there's a few fields on Page 2 under "Processing Information" that I am wondering about. I know a TN is not a Visa, so when it asks for "Nonimmigrant Visa Number" I should enter "N/A"? (the only number on the card is the I-94 number) Same with "Consulate Where Visa Was Issued"? And what about "Date Visa Was Issued"? Do I put the date I received my TN or do I put "N/A" there as well since it's not a Visa? And then I'm assuming for "In what status did you laster enter?" as either TN or Temporary Worker?
2.) On the EAD application there's a section I'm unsure of. Number 11 asks "Have you ever before applied for employment authorization from USCIS?" Now is this only referring to an EAD, or does a TN count as well? I guess what I'm wondering is do I check "Yes" because I got a TN, then place the Border Office I got it from for "Which USCIS Office?" and then Granted for "Results"?
I'm probably going to get an attorney to look over things anyways, but I was wondering if anyone here would know by chance?
