  • biometric appointment taking ages

My forms were received 23rd August, fees received on 2nd September........still awaiting appointment for biometrics. Is this normal? How long does it usually take. Also do any of the places in NYC take walk in appointments for biometrics?

    Any advice much appreciated.

    Thanks!

It usually takes about a month or so (from the moment application/fees were received) to receive a note about the biometrics/fingerprints appointment. The notice will include a place and time for the appointment along with a set of basic instructions (it's not a "walk-in" type of visit).

Also, according to the USCIS website - if your field office is NYC? - as of July 31, 2016, they were working on the I-485 applications received on October 30, 2015 (so it will take a while until your hear anything back about the 'green card' interview).

The waiting time can be insane (I know because I was waiting for a pretty long time)

      My time frame below:

      May 7, 2015 - Application/s received by USCIS
June 5, 2015 - Fingerprints done at the LI office (Holtsville)
July 30, 2015 - Employment Authorization Card received
February 24, 2016 - Notice that the interview has been scheduled
      March 23, 2016 - Interview
      March 26, 2016 - Card arrived
