  • Interview at Dallas Office

    Hello everyone,

I had my interview today for my adjustement of status at the Dallas office. I've followed this thread since I submmited my application and it was of great help. I want to share my experience and hope it helps someone out too. This is my timeline, the process took about 10 months! But so worth the wait. I sent my I-130 & I-485. No I-765 since I have an EAD with DACA.

    PD: 12/14/15
    Biometrics appointment: 01/15/16
RFE: 1/22/16 (I was missing my I-864, sent it within a couple of days)
Interview ready to be scheduled: 3/4/16
    Received interview notice: 9/14/16
    Interview: 10/19/16

My interview was at 11:45am at the Dallas Office, I arrived about 25 minutes early and waited in the lobby for about 15 minutes until I was called. I am a marriage based applicant and my husband is a US citizen. We have been married for 3 1/2 years, no kids. Back to my interview, once I was called in we were swore in to oath and the IO started with my husband, very simple questions about him, his name, DOB and birth placejust to verify the information on the application. He asked him for our wedding date. He then asked me for my full name, birthday and place of birth. He also asked me about my last entry into the US, I was paroled into the US last year after leaving to my home country to visit my sick grandmother with an I-131. He also asked me how long I have known my husband and asked if he wad any kids. After looking through all of my paper work he asked if he had anything we would like to add to the file, he asked if we file our taxes together. I told him yes and gave him the paper work and also told him I had pictures. He asked to see them, my husband and I have traveled around the country and we even talked about the trips based on the pictures I took. He stated everything looked good and he would approve the case on the spot but he was waiting on my background check to clear, as soon as it cleared it would be approved. He was very nice and made the interview so smooth! Two hours later I checked my status online and my card is being produced!! So happy!! It's almost surreal that the wait is over!!

      Hi,

Congratulations! I am in the same process as you. My interview has been scheduled next month. I have question regarding the interview. Did you have to submit your original passport and EAD to the officer after the interview? A friend of mine told me that he had to turn in his to the uscis and they returned to him after 3 weeks along with his approved green card. Is that true?

      Thank you!
