  • GC by Marriage: Do-it-yourself Kit and Travel

I am currently on my H1-B visa and I married a US citizen in November 2005. I would like to know if it is advisable to use one of the Do-It-Yourself kits to apply for green card....or do I really need to go through a lawyer? Also, If you know of a good Do-It-Yourself kit, please let me know.

Also, I have a question about travelling. I wanted to travel to India in the next few months. Although my H1B is approved, I had never travelled outside the US after getting my H1B, so I still don't have a stamp on my passport. If I apply for the greencard soon enough, would I be able to get some sort of travel authorization to go out of the country and be able to return? The other way is for me to get the H1B stamped when I go to India, but apparently the next available appointment in the US consulate is in August...which is the reason I wanted to see if travel was possible through the green card process instead.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thannks.
