  • i-485 approved before medical examination

Hi all, so my i-485 status changed on the uscis website to "we have ordered your card" but I haven’t been asked to submit my medical examination. I have searched tirelessly online and it seems i-693 is a requirement prior to approving i-485.
What should I do? Is this an error or are there exceptions to completing i-693?

Although I can't provide you with an answer - was there a reason the medical was not sent in as part of your application? I was of the impression it had to be included or it would be kicked back as incomplete?

The lawyer suggested to hold off not knowing how long the process will take. She suggested that USCIS will request a RFE when the time came, that way I wouldn't take the risk of doing the medical exam twice in case it expires. Make sense?

But the RFE never came. Instead I was notified of the approval. And this morning, I received an email that the card was mailed.

      Thoughts?

Just enjoy your GC! If you have it you have it. Obviously whoever processed it overlooked the need for an i-693. If they ever retrospectively ask you for it, which they won't, then you can get it done. Otherwise, congrats and enjoy your GC
