  • AOS in Texas

I married my husband in May 2016. At the time he was here on a visitors visa. He had filed for an extension before we got married which was approved. This allowed him to stay until October 1, 2016. Due to many things going on, like one of kids ending up in the hospital for over a month and almost dying, we did not finish up our paperwork- I-485, I-130, I-765, I-693 and I-864, etc. until September. We filed the first couple days of October. Today we received our receipts.

    PD- 10/14/2016

I just want to see what everyone else's experiences are. WE have friends who say the process moved quickly for the, but in Chicago. I have not heard many stories about those filing in Dallas.

    Does anyone have any experiences?

    Hi mrs.bader,

I know that because of election day the process has been delayed, you just need to be patient, hopefully your application is complete and within 90 days your husband will receive his EAD. I am filing in Houston, and here the process is very very slow. I don't know if its the same for all texas.

Make sure to follow up the biometric appointment, I made a mistake just waiting for them to contact me and it has being 70 days and I don't have a biometric appointment yet.

Maybe after 20 days you should call them in case you don't receive anything.

    Good luck!

Currently the Houston Service Center is quoting a 5 month approval procee for the I-130 so you are looking at at about the end of February 2017 to get your Petition I-130 approved, your AOS not so good.Your I-485 will be sent to the USCIS Houston field office and they and they are processing AOS applications from 11/2015
