application of EAD while applying I-485 Adjustment of status and currently on H1B

Hello Everyone,

I am a US Citizen and I am applying for adjustment of status (Green Card) for my wife. Currently she resides with me in the United states and she is on H1B visa status and working for the company. This means she already has a work authorization to work for her employer. However, when I apply for her adjustment of status, can I apply for EAD again just incase if the green card process takes longer? I want to apply EAD because we are planning to move to different state and wondering if she can work anywhere without the need to go through all the H1B process with other employers?
Would you please advise me on this? I would greatly appreciate that.

Yes, you can apply for EAD along with I-485 and it is free when you do together, or within certain time frame after you apply for AOS. Getting an EAD does not invalidate H1B.

Thank you Turk for the reply. My only point is can she work anywhere if her EAD arrives while green card is pending. . Does this new EAD give her the freedom to work anywhere without any restriction (such as Right now, if she want to work somewhere else, She has to go through the whole process and the new employer has to petition again for H1B)?

Yes EAD gives her the freedom to work anywhere she chooses to until she gets her GC.
