Unless you filed a G-1145 you would get a text notification; depending on how many applications you submitted is the number of text or emails you will get. One message per each. However, this doesn't always work. I got the text & email when they assigned the case # for my applications but after that I never got notified electronically when my cases were progressing. So, I highly advise you look up your case status at www.uscis.gov once you get the physical letter that has your case # assigned. You should receive the receipt notifications in a month or so from when you originally submitted such applications. But seeing that you noticed that the checks were cashed, you should be getting the notices with the case #'s assigned in a week or so.
As far as your documents/cards you submitted an application for:
-AP and EAD take about 3 months to be fully processed. During that time frame you will get a biometric notice. If 90 days has passed and you haven't gotten anything after you have done your biometrics, CALL uscis on the number per the receipt notice and inquire about the status. (I got my EAD on day 96 but i called on day 90 when I hadn't seen if it had been approved. I had my biometrics done on day 38. As far as my AP, i'm still waiting on it and its been 204 days since i submitted that).
-I-485, you should get a receipt that tells you what to do or to just wait. All depends on your records and status. This one is the part where you have to have a bunch of patience. Mine has been tested so much and still is.
I hope this is helpful to you.
