  • request for initial evidence. non-existing birth certificate

    hello.

I got married on 04/28/2016 and sent the paperwork on 10/13/2016. I received the notice and bio-metrics appointment for next Friday 11/25/2016. Yesterday I received a letter from USCIS requiring initial evidence. I was born in Turkey but I don't have a Turkish citizenship or any type of papers. After I was born my parents moved to Bulgaria. They are both Bulgarian citizens. They spent 9 months in Turkey during a political conflict in Bulgaria. After I was born in Turkey they moved back to Bulgaria and they never requested a birth certificate from Turkey.I sent a Bulgarian birth certificate but they are still asking for the turkish certificate. Do I need to get a lawyer to help me with that. In the letter it says I can sent a letter from a government authority stating that I dont have the birth certificate and the reason why I dont have it. Also school or medical records. What exactly do I have to send? If anybody can help it would be great. Thanks in advance.

If our parents know which hospital you were born at you could try to contact them and get a document. You could also call or go to Turkish Consulate and see if they can help you. If you cannot get a record of any sort you could look into "Non Availability of Birth Certificate".
