Hello everybody, I need clarification regarding interpreter. I'm a US citizen, trying to petition my mom while she is in the US. She's been in the US more than 3 months now. However, she does not know English at all. I'm filling out everything for her: form I-485 adjustment of status, I-693 medical clearance, of course the USCIS would ask for interpreter signature. I'm not sure I'm allowed to be her interpreter or I need to go to a lawyer or an authorized interpreter for that. I have done everything from A to Z for my own immigration paperwork, so I'm new with any immigration service center (not USCIS center) that they do paperwork for you. In addition, my birth certificate is already translated to English from my own country by the government agency with their names and red government stamp. Do you think it is ok to just submit that to in the package or I need it notarized? Thank you.

I think you don't need a lawyer to be your translator for the form. And I believe you wouldn't need any notarized documents submitted. Notarization is to say "this is an original document". Often people submit photocopies of the original document. Keep in mind, documents you submit won't be returned to you normally.
