AOS while on OPT

Hi all.

I am currently on OPT, expiring in May. I am married now and applying for green card. I know I have to fill out i-765 to go along with my I-485 package.
However, when filling out the AOS, that will void my OPT, and I'll have to wait for my new EAD. What will happen to my current employment status?
Will I stay in some sort of EAD limbo where I can't work because my OPT is void and my new EAD hasn't arrived?


Please, any help will be truly appreciated.

Merely filing AOS does not void existing EAD or visa status. You can continue to work using your current OPT EAD until it expires. If you do not receive the EAD associated with your AOS petition by then, then you will have to stop working, and wait until that EAD arrives. Since it typically takes 90-100 days for the EAD from such AOS petitions to arrive, it is advisable to send in your I485 application along with the I765 asap.
