  • U.S citizen in the U.s Army.

    Hello everyone.
I'm a U.S citizen and also in the u.s Army, who filed both for my dad and mom AOS since Aug 1 2016, and that is my priority date. they already have the biometric taken everything. On September 7, we received request for evidence from USCIS to request for my income proof, send it back to them both in Oct, but they said they did not received it till Dec 1 , since then my dad received his EAD permit 28 days later , and for my mom another request of evidence about she has been depart the U.S since she turn in the application for AOS. we have an attorney in Houston , Texas and both of my parents is still in Houston right now, we send the replies back to them. But until now, the status of my dad AOS is : evidence has received since Dec 1 2016, but still no updated on his yet. And for my mom, we replies the proof that she have not depart the U.S.. they received the evidence on Jan 19, but still no EAD permit or travel document yet for my mom.
I'm very upset that they have no expedite service or anything for the military personnel who sponsor their parents and request for evidence twice, they not updating in their system, I have to put in case inquiry like 4 times. Anyone in Houston have the same wait or any updated on request for evidence have received or the next step is case is ready to schedule interview ?
I'm station in Fort Bliss , far away from Houston but looking to see if anyone in Houston have the same waiting time or scenario ?

    With regards,
    Huy

you should hire an attorney to do this for you, do your parents change their status from visitor visa ? Dont worry buddy, cause Houston office is a massive backlog, I am still waiting for my interview too.

By the way, can i ask you some question ? You joined military through 2 years green card, didn't you ? Did you naturalize through bootcamp or you had to wait 1 year in service to naturalize ?

    Your answer will be thankful

    P/s : im Viet too

We did have an attorney, but they didn't do their jobs right in the first place so that's why we have 2 request for evidence for my mom. Now the status is still request for evidenced was received still, making her worry not to go back to Vietnam while on Advanced Parole since we have the new president. And yes, while in BCT not bootcamp I naturalized, if you have any questions or concern about military u can email me at :[email protected]

Thank you for your reply buddy, been waiting for it!!!

Btw, dont get confused by the rumor, and we are not the ones coming from those 7 countries ( sorry guys, no offense), the new immigration law is just holding off granting refugee visa and others for those in 7 countries, well, you see we are not on the list and your mom has the AP, which was granted to re-enter to the Us, they definitely dont grant it meaninglessly, im just saying, but if you dont wanna go, just dont risk, if necessary, you'd better let some one (usc and understand english) go with your mom then. I can guess that your problem was them attorneys, make sure that they are lawyers, not the ones doing immigration service. Btw, dont worry buddy, your family will be fine!!

About the millitary, i thought that RTC (for the navy) or BCT (for the army) and bootcamp are the same, just different names. I tend to join the navy. I will email you later. Thank you buddy!!!

Navy is bootcamp, marine corps is recruit training, AF is basic military training and Army is basic combat training. Navy its good if you want to travel, definitely recommend navy or air force not army . Yes they are the same but regardless of it, Army and marine corps have higher standard in initial military training not as easy as NAvy or Air Force so that's why it's got different names. ( Marines run 3miles ., Army 2 miles , meanwhile navy and AF only have to do 1.5 miles )

Enough about the military, but as you can see, we all have problems and property back in Vietnam to taking care of , you know and the wait is freaking long to this point, we thought it would be faster since they are here on Travel visa b1 better than staying in Vietnam and doing all the paperwork and it would take longer. But in the end , right here in the US is longer than Vietnam. Some of the people we know, they do all the paperwork in Vietnam for their parents and its' only took 4 months for their parents to be here. Never heard it got that fast before.

Im waiting for my Aos interview too, my wife is us born citizen
            My pd 10/24/16
            Bio done 11/22/16
            Case is ready 12/5/16
            Received EAD on 1/22/17

Dont know how long to get the interview man. I think it depends on the loco offices you are applying for the paperwork, and Houston is known as one of the longest processing time offices. Tbt in 2014 and before, the processing time was fast, after 2014 things went downhill. Seems like Texas is so slow at AOS, i heard some people in Cali have their interview scheduled in march 2017 while their pd is november 16.
Btw, thank you for you reply about military and stuffs, i have some more questions to ask you about it, i will email you.
