  • I-485 case transfered from California to Texa. Why???

I just got 'Transfer Notice' from USCIS that my case of 'Adjustment of Status' is transfered from 'California' to 'Texas'. The notice said they trasnfered the case because texas has jurisdiction over my case. I am confused by this reason.

I never left california since I have been to US. I have worked in California for last 6-7 years. Does anyone else go through this kind of experience? Is this normal for USCIS to transfer case around? Any help is appreciated.

I am in California and I believe in January 2006 I got a notice that my case had been transfered to Texas. I have been working with an attorney on my case, So I was puzzled just as you are, well my attorney said that this has been the case for a while maybe since last year. They are trying to distribute the case loads and also that Texas seems more efficient in expediting or processing faster.

Sure enough within a couple weeks of getting that notice i got a request for additional evidence sent my way. At the same time fingerprinting appointment. They needed some more documents which I and my attorney submitted. It has been a little over a month since I heard anything. But that is the process so expect some kind of movement in your case.

My attorney told me not to worry when i intially got that notice. It was actually a good thing, meaning my case was moving along.
