  • TB test for I 485

    Hello
My TB skin test came positive and then X-ray came negative. I used my own physician to do this. Based on these results civil surgeon has cleared my I-693 without any issue. However, my own physician went a step ahead with a blood test. The blood test came positive. The physician is telling me to go for 9 months medication. Also, according to my physician, the public health specialist needs to be informed as per NY state rule and needs to evaluate me.

    1. Can this delay my I-485 approval? (I have a current date, EB1A category)

    2. I understand that for my personal benefit, I should go for medication. But as I was given BCG in childhood, should I go for more evaluation before starting meds?

Thank you very much in advance.

I was on the same boat that you're currently on right now, If the paper sent to immigration states that the xrays came back negative and you've been cleared you should be good. But I would go ahead and finish testing just to be safe that you don't actually have it. Immigration should always go based off the papers sent by the doctors.

Thank you so much for the reply. I was also thinking the same. But was worried that the state public health dept gets linked with USCIS, Is it too extreme to think? Or USCIS will just rely on civil surgeon, nothing else.

I would highly doubt that USCIS would be reached out by the Health department since I don't see how they would know you currently have any pending application(s) with them. I say just to get you through the process I would just wait until you receive your green card then go through with the testing and such. Hopefully the test comes negative and you get your green card. GOOD lUCK
