  • Cashiers check

I just wanted to get some information on cashiers check. I submitted my i485 and it was received Friday 03/03/2017. I sent a cashiers check and I signed it as the endorser. Has anyone else done this and if so was it returned or cashed?

    RE: Cashiers check

You should not have signed the check, because it is for USDHS to sign and cash.
Check with the bank that you got this check from. They may be able to tell you whether it has been cashed.

For any applications and petitions, always use personal checks so that you can check your own account to see if it is cashed.
Checks are usually cashed within 2 weeks of being received.

Ty for your reply, I've been calling daily to the number on the check to see the status. So no issue there. I'm just going to have to wait to get it back to submit again

        FWIW,

I've seen it happen a couple of times, and the endorsement was just ignored and processed by USCIS as a payment.
But I agree with Westedge that personal checks provide you more flexibility, tracking and control.
