  • Waiting for I-485 interview since July 2016: Newark

    Hi guys,

I have the following timelines and my case is currently with the Newark field office.

June 20 - Application of adjustment based on marriage to US national
    August 20 - Biometrics
Sept 6 - Case status updated to 'ready to schedule interview"
    Nov 10- EAD received

There is still no update on my interview scheduling. I have requested expedition of the case with the Newark Field office but no luck yet. My questions are:

    1. Are the delays this bad with Newark?
    2. When they do get around to scheduling me, how many weeks / months out will it be ?
    3. Do I need to attend the interview in person or with my wife?
    4. After the interview, what is the timeline to get the green card?
    5. Is the green card dated from the day of application or from the date of authorisation?

    Thanks

I don't know about Newark but it if anything like NY, I did mines in June, And only heard from them for an interview in March, so going by that timeline you should be hearing something by this month or may the latest.

      Very annoying I know.

I am a filer for Newark office also, we sent our forms to Chicago in the beginning of march 2017, checks cashed and receipt received 2 weeks later and biometrics is scheduled for April 10 2017! Hope that helps a bit.

To answer a few of your questions, yes, you do need to attend the interview in person with your wife. For the Newark office, I've heard people get notification that their GC was being processed a few hours after the interview and received a week or two later. Not 100% certain about this part but I believe your GC is dated from the time of authorization, not the date of application. You weren't issued a GC the day that you applied, so I would assume the latter.

You gonna get your GC dated from when they approve you. It could be the date of the interview or later. But definitely not earlier than your interview.
And yes you have to go to the interview with your spouse. They will say it in the interview letter notice.

              Also still waiting for Newark

Yeah, it looks like the delays are really bad in Newark. This is my timeline:

September 8 - Application of adjustment of status based on marriage to US national received
              October - Biometrics
              November 17 - Received EAD

My interview has not been scheduled. My online status still reads: Fingerpring Fee Was Received. It's been eight months. Does anyone know if calling the call center helps at all?
