  • Laid off while I-485 pending (priority date is current)

Submitted I-485 for AOS (priority date is current). Getting laid off ten days after filing I-485 (company folding), which will cancel my current visa status. What now? Will the AOS still go through? Will I be able to reside in the US as an "applicant to adjust status" without having to search for alternative legal grounds? If I were to look for another job, will I have to file an I-765?

You are the poster child for why every Adjustment applicant should concurrently file for employment authorization

Yes, you can stay, but you can't work until you get your EAD
