  • Raleigh NC Filers - GC in hand!

    I have been another silent reader on the forum like many others. My journey is now at an end and wanted to share my timeline. This forum gave me hope, support and guidance when I really felt frustrated.

    01/26/2017 -----**INTERVIEW**
    We got there about 15 minutes before out appointment. Security check was very fast. Went to lounge and waited for about an hour before we were called in.
    The IO called us back to her office. Swore us in and asked for IDS. We confirmed our address, DOB and then we were separated. Spouse (USC) was left in the office for questioning and I was sent out to lounge to wait. Spouse was interviewed for about 20 minutes. Then we switched up. I was in for about 30 minutes. IO then asked me to go out and get my spouse and interview continued jointly for about another 20 minutes.

    Some of the questions we were asked while separated were;
    -where we got married, who attended, what we did after the wedding (as in reception)
    -who proposed, where the proposal was, who bought the rings and where
    -then things changed up to what side of the bed you sleep on, how many bedrooms in the house, how much rent we pay
    -then she asked what we had done the day before from morning (when we woke up) till night (when we went to sleep). The whole day needed to be described including what we had for dinner and who cooked
    -also was asked to confirm the different addresses that we had lived on

    Jointly we were asked the YES/NO questions and then she gave us advice on how we should continue working together to have a good marriage.
    She explained about the conditional GC and how and when to remove the conditions and then had us sign the paper since our marriage is less than 2yrs. She never said we were approved and did not want any extra proof. She said the file was good as it was and would be reviewed further and we would get information via mail. No timeline was given either. We walked out of there exhausted, exhilarated and totally unsure of the results. We had two questions that did not match due to nervousness and anxiety.

    02/06/2017 ----- Called customer service as online status still stated Interview date and time. There was still no update and was advised to wait.
    03/02/2017 -----Created INFO PASS
    03/15/2017 ----- INFO PASS appointment
    Agent was really nice. Asked me what IO had stated during interview. I advised not much except we would hear via mail. I told her that I had more documents if needed as by this time we had done our joint taxes. Agent went to speak to the IO who advised to give more time and that she did not need any more documents. She said she had a high work load and to give about 15-30 more days.

    04/24/2017 ----- Received “Welcome” letter
