April 2017 Submission - I-130, I-485, I-765 concurrent
Yesterday my wife and I went down to Anchorage from Fairbanks to do our I-485 interview. Talk about stressful! You could tell everyone in the lobby was feeling it. My nervous reaction is always to lighten the mood, so I was chatting up everyone just trying to take my mind off things.
At first, I felt like I was going to the principal's office and was super nervous. She opened it up with 'I won't be approving you today' because I did not have a long form birth certificate with my mother and father on it. We do not have that type of birth certificate in the province I am from so I had no idea where I would get it, so that set me back, and my mood dropped quickly.
However, by the end the agent was fantastic, she became very friendly, and we even chatted about our cats for a bit. She told me as I was leaving that I would be approved, and everything would be processed that afternoon. She asked me to wait about two weeks for my card and if I do not see it within 30 days to call.
My concern is this: She told me I was approved. However, she would not stamp my passport. Is this normal? I had read previously it would be stamped on the spot if they accept you. I asked her if she needed to stamp it and she told me just to wait for the card. Should I have some concern that this could backfire or just trust the process?
One piece of advice, do not skimp on support documents and photos when you go for your interview! They will ask for originals of most everything you sent in or at least did for me. My wife and I have been married for over three years, and she has permanent residency in Canada, so our relationship is pretty concrete, and I almost started to question myself with the initial line of questioning. Be prepared and be confident!

I don't think so because if anything, they should expedite your case due to the circumstances. Hope you hear from them soon!

We have very similar timelines. My PD is May 4th and I did biometrics on June 1st. I'm also in Arizona. I've heard nothing since my biometrics appointment, so I definitely think your case being ready to be scheduled for interview is due to your expedite request. I believe at that point your file was sent to your field office (Phoenix?) so you could probably make an infopass appointment and talk to someone who might know more about your case. Lots of people who filed when you did are still waiting for their EAD's, so I don't think your expedite request slowed down that process. Did you request an EAD expedite or just an I-485 expedite?
On August 1, 2017, we sent a response to your inquiry about the status of your Employment Authorization application, referral number SR YYYY YYYY MSC.
I saw the update above on my case history, please what means do they use in sending the response because i checked my email and no feedback. Was the response sent via post?
