NOTICE: If you have to redo your Medical Exam please look at the form that the doctor gives you to fill out. The form with the expiration date of 3/31/2017 IS NOT VALID as of April 28, 2017. Please don't let this little mistake be the reason why you get denied!!!
I went yesterday to redo my Medical Exam since it had been 1 year since the time I took it. Thankfully, I had printed out the new form from uscis.gov and notified the doctor. However he told me that the old version with the expiration date of 3/31/2017 is valid. I was really upset because my gut told me that it wasn't true. So today to be safe I called my attorney to see what I could do. He said he would look into it and give me a call. To be extra safe I called USCIS myself and the officer named Joaquin told me that my case would get rejected if I submitted the old Medical Exam Form. That I needed to tell the doctor that HE NEEDS TO USE THE NEW MEDICAL EXAM FORM (I-163). So take notice of this and get your attorney involved. I called my attorney again and he said that I was right and he called the referred doctor he sends his clients to and told him to use the NEW MEDICAL FORM. I'm glad I caught this before I go into my interview in two weeks.
Please also note that some doctors will say they can use the old form with the expiration date of 3/31/2017 until July 2017. But I WOULD NOT RESK IT! We are so close to get approved and if we get denied for something that could have been avoided it's not worth it. So make sure you fill it and sign the new form. The edition date is 2/02/2017 with expiration date of 2/28/2019.
This is the note it says on the government website.
02/07/17. Beginning April 28, 2017, civil surgeons must use the 02/07/17 edition Form I-693 (which shows an expiration date of 02/28/2019 at the top right corner of page 1). USCIS will not accept any previous editions (with an expiration date of 03/31/2017 or earlier) that a civil surgeon signed and dated on or after April 28, 2017. You can find the edition date at the bottom of the page on the Form and Instructions.
Best wishes to you all!
