  • i-485 STUCK with background check or additional review.17 MONTHS

November 23, 2015 I filed for my I-485 and had my interview August 2016. I just received my second EAD card while waiting for my green card.

I have contacted the congressman and the Ombudsman and both of their answer were that my case is held for additional review. Basically, my name check or background check is taking longer.

I was on a student visa before I got married.

I don't understand why my case is taking longer than other people.

Did anybody go through the same long process and finally got their green card?
I would love to hear your experiences.

I also applied in November 2015. Still no news with answers from USCIS that it's still in background check. And i haven't even had an interview.

Hm. Ukraine doesn't seem like a high risk country but maybe your name matches someone thats on some kind of watch list.
          Germany

Well, i lived in Germany for three years and before that for two years in France.
My name is pretty unique. lol.
They can't check anything in other countries. For that they need to send it to Interpol. FBI checks what info they have in america.
I suspect that background check is a standard answer. Like a template

I came to United States on F1 visa. My wife is Green Card Holder and she filed I-130 on October 5, 2015 which got Approved on March 5, 2016. I filed for I-485, I-765 and I-131 in October 27, 2016. I-765 and I-131 got approved in Jan, 20017 and Figner Print done in November 25, 2016. My I-485 is still pending. it’s been almost a year since I filled i-485 and still my status online says ‘On October 27, 2016, we accepted the fingerprint fee for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status‘
              Anyone with the similar situation?
My field office is Newark. It’s really very frustrating friends please guide me what should I do!
I’m still maintaining my F1 Student visa as well.
              Thank You

                Hello,
I am in a similar situation. Applied June 2015, interviewed oct 2017. Till date, not RFE , not GC. I have done multiple SR, did infopass 3 times . @dec 2018 Officer said its held for background check.... I later spoke with T2 Customer service officer who raised SR , I received a letter that application was in pre processing stage and I would be scheduled for interview. That doenst make sense to Me, I feel like it is a pre automated response ..... my field office is Houston, what's yours ?
