    Dear Forum,

I'm posing this question here as getting the answers from USCIS via the call centre is an exercise in frustration!

We are applying for a I-485 adjustment of status for my wife. We are currently in the US awaiting our interview but will need to travel back to her home country (Indonesia) in June for a short family visit. I understand that I-485 applicant must generally apply for "Advanced Parole" in order to leave the US and return back into the US without nullifying their I-485 application. Still, my wife has a multiple entry visa (B2) that is good until the end of the year. As such, do we still need to apply for the parole?

Any insight/advice would be most helpful.

    Thanks,

    Don Archer

An adjustment of status application is deemed abandoned when the applicant travels abroad before advance parole is approved

Yes your wife needs advance parole before leaving the country. Her AOS will be considered abandoned if she left without it. They probably wont let her back into the country on her B2 now that she has shown immigrant intent by filing i-485. You should try to apply for expedited AP but dont leave without it under any circumstances
