          • Is Asylum eligible for fee waver of form i485 ? because I've read in USCIS website that only refugees and some other cases are eligible for it..

my attorney has applied my GC with fee waiver. and after I did some searches, I doubt his knowledge. I'm so worried now and thinking to find another attorney.

            any recommendation ?

I think it depends. Is your attorney a charity and Pro Bono attorney? Are you low income ?

If it’s not a free attorney, how can convince USCIS you can pay for example $2000 attorney fees but not $1400 uscis fee. Would be hard to convince them. Also again depends on income too. If you’re making above poverty line, also harder to qualify for fee waiver.

I heard from many paid attorneys that they do not apply for fee waivers for their clients because again hard to convince uscis you can pay attorney but not uscis.

                • Good thing is if you pay I-485 fees, you can apply for work permit EAD or travel document for free.

Biden will order an immediate review of the public-charge rule, which denies U.S. entry to migrants considered likely to become dependent on the government.

The president also plans to roll back Trump administration policies on asylum and take “other actions to remove barriers and restore trust in the legal immigration system, including improving the naturalization process.”

                    • Depends... I-485 Fees for refugees , asylees and i think humanitarian (u, t visa, victim of a crime ) can be waived.. and you wont need to pay the fees.. but you will need to wait for the USCIS to approve the waiver application , so the fees to be waived... (more time waiting ), but yes you can request to not pay for the I-485... you still can get free EAD AND FREE TRAVEL DOCUMENT ... since they are all part of the package.. but its up to you .. You wanna wait longer maybe ???

Is it a good sign and does it mean that I won't be requested to do fingerprint ?

Yes on august 2020. Hopefully mine will be process soon.

                            .

on the waiver topic, I applied for the waiver fee and I filed in all our paperwork. And the fingerprints and everything was done in a normal process time.
