It is shocking to see how many fewer cases the TSC receives and works on compared to NSC. But I already knew that. What surprised me is that for the last two quarters that have the information available, both centers received very few new cases and seems to be trying to resolve the problem of the backlog. Actually for the last quarter, they received almost zero new applications. I am not sure why this happened. First thought was maybe the pandemic a year before that delayed many new asylum grants but the dates of the quarters are before the pandemic hit and the USCIS closed (in March 2020). So not sure why this happened.
too many Denied cases in TSC ( as a percentage)

Because Uscis has started sending green card applications based on Asylum to the National Benefits Center since the last two quarters that’s why you don’t see Texas and Nebraska receiving any applications in last two quarters. The ones in National Benefits Center will be processed through the local field office, and the processing time is same as processing time for family based gc in your local field office.

        • Hello Everyone,
I have a question regarding the green card application (I-485 based asylum):

I entered the US as F1 student and I had my i-94 online record at that time, but when I got my asylums, I received another i-94 (the white card) that was attached to my asylum approval letter?
My question is which i-94 record number I should use when answering questions 23a, 23b, 23c, and 25a, b, and c of Part 1 of the application?

          Thank you

          • Timeline. I started this thread and finally my wait has come to an end after a L.O.N.G time.

Jan 6, 2016: Asylum Approved by IJ

Jan 8, 2017: Application to register for Permanent resident I-485 sent. Texas service center.

Jan 15, 2017: Application received and a case number was assigned.

            Feb 12, 2017: Biometrics done

Numerous SR requests and congressional inquires over the years but case was stuck at "Fingerprint was received". Always got generic response saying "we have had to perform additional review". After more than 4 years it was obvious my application was not going under any review but was collecting dust in a room of USCIS building.

Jan 15, 2021: Contacted USCIS ombudsman and explained the situation. My case was way late than their processing timelines so ombudsman agreed to try to help me.

June 10, 2021: Ombudsman sent me an email saying they have contacted USCIS regarding my case and I should expect some response soon.

June 28, 2021: USCIS Case status changed to "Rfe was sent"

July 16, 2021: Rfe sent (medical)

July 19, 2021: Case status changed to RFE response received

July 23, 2021: Case was approved

So looks like my wait is over. I still do not know why my case took so long. One would assume there would be at least an interview when case was going additional review for more than 55 months which is more time than a whole presidency. Turns out I was right it was in fact collecting dust and Ombudsman's outreach made someone to pick up the file finally. I hope my timeline serves as a reminder to those who have been waiting for a long time to not worry and panic. I probably waited the most than any of the readers/commenters here so keep my timeline in mind when you are stressed. Take care and good luck to all.

              • Hello!

I have a question. My RTD will expire in Jan 2022. If I can renew from 120 days before (September 2020) can I travel in October? Or automatically my actual RTD won’t be valid?

                      Congrats on your approval.
I envy all that receive RFE for medical and get approvals in a few days/weeks. We are still waiting. More than 4 months since USCIS received the sealed envelopes, every day I get more worried about our case.

Use the asylum granted I-94 and on expiration date write "Valid indefinitely"

                          Answering your both question:

I contacted Ombudsman by filing their online case assistant request. One has to fill the following form:

The Office of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman (CIS Ombudsman) assists individuals and employers in resolving difficulties they are experiencing with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). You can submit DHS Form 7001 online below to request our help.

And you asked for a lawyer specializing in Asylum and I do not know where you are located (I am from VA) but there is one excellent asylum attorney in Washington DC. His Name is Jason Dzubow. He is also a blogger at asylumist.com and you can contact him through the website below:

I can confidently recommend him because he handled my case. His prices are very reasonable and he isn't one of those crook attorneys. He has extensive knowledge of Asylum law (most of his cases are asylum cases). He won't give you false promises and he will do his job with best of his ability.

Hope that answers your both questions.

The space given to answer question 23.b expiration date does not allow to write "Valid indefinitely".
Also, what did you write on question 23.c: Status on Form i-94 (for example, class of admission, or paroled if paroled)?
                            I would appreciate your answers
