Did you contact the congressman of your state? they normally have an option to fill a release form and request an update through their website
Did you contact the ombudsman? you can raise a request for help you can submit Form DHS-7001, Request for Case Assistance, online or email the form directly to [email protected]

I sent requests every month until they finally help me out .. it took two years for my application to be approved.

    • has anyone had any experience at the citizenship interview.. after they travelled with national passport?
I know this is repetitive, but would travel with a national passport be bad, no that I have green card? I am based on a minority group LBGTQ+.

        interview September 2021

Mine took 3 months after the interview, The officer called my lawyer and told him about the approval and apologize for the way they mistreated my case.

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR ADJUST STATUS

Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production

On December 20, 2021, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number LINxxxxxxxxxxx and will mail it to the address you gave us. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

GOOD luck to everyone on this forum.
        Congrats.

As I always try to say to everyone here, just relax and the approval will come.

There is no need torture yourself asking why it's not moving.

Just sit tight, and it will be processed in no time. Otherwise, it will take forever.

          Either NSC or local office.

I expect you to hear back as to next steps (approval / RFE, or an interview) within the ext 3 - 6 months or so.

I have two questions and would appreciate if you could share your thoughts.

            1. After getting GC I know that I have to update my social security to remove any restrictions. Does it have any impact on tax returns? Is is the same amount of tax that permeant residents pay vs others.

            2. In order to travel aboard what should we do? Should we apply for travel document even as green card holder ? is that all we need to do? I was checking online and looks like the fee is around $220.

            Thanks
            1. Mostly, it won't impact your tax returns. Generally asylees spent enough time in the US to be "resident alien" (for tax purposes) on tax returns. Unless you filed an non-resident tax return before, there is no difference.
            2. You do not need to apply for travel document unless your travel is more than 6 months. The thing about RTD is its short validity period and long processing delays. While it is absolutely possible to go back to home countries, you might want to avoid if possible to simply your naturalization process.

Thanks for the info. In this case if I dont get the RTD then what document should I use as passport to get Visa from other countries?

                Your passport.

Of course, if you don't have a valid passport, you will have no choice but to apply either Refugee Travel Document(RTD) or Re-entry Permit.

Just to be clear, the option to use your home country passport is only valid if you are LPR (i.e. green card holder). Asylee has to have RTD to travel.

thank you, and while I believe sometimes you can come up harsh. I do appreciate all the time and effort you put to give us information.

we still don't know if this will bring a red flag during your naturalization interview.. so perhaps just to be sure use an RTD (VALID FOR 1 YEAR) or REENTRY PERMIT (2 YEARS).. JUST TO AVOID DELAYS...
I think it is different when you are a derivative asylee.. and get ur green card .. you then have less risk to use your national passport.

Has anyone requested for expedited processing of their I-485s? I did through my congressman’s office and received denial. What should I expect next?

                      • Hello everybody! I applied 2 weeks ago for I-131 RTD in Texas Dallas because I'm planning a trip in Europe in February, but I received a confirmation Mail from Nebraska service center. It's weird, it's my very first time to receive a mail from USCIS Nebraska.
                        3/28/2018. Asylum approval
                        5/1/2019 I-485 Green card application ( 32 months now)
                        2/25/2020. Fingerprints
                        12/13/20
usually when I send an application to the USCIS I always get a confirmation mail from Texas USCIS , but this time for my i131 I got a confirmation from Nebraska. am I supposed to worry about it?
Plus, I would like to know how long they take to deliver a Travel document. My trip in Europe is in February, im wondering if they will give me my RTD on time

The fact the case is taking long to process and lack of other compelling reasons the expedite request would be denied.

Why you want to expedite your case?

                            It is normal.

                            NSC process all RTD applications.

You will not be able to make it in Feb. It took at least 5-6 months.

Lack of urgent situations you cannot expedite your case

if your trip falls into one of the expedite reasons, then you can ask for it to be expedited.
I went for an internship in 2019 and I got a letter from my school that got my RTD in two months. I contacted my congressman and also submitted proof for the expedited request.
just back up your request with a letter. if it is for surgery then have a letter from the doc, if it is work or school, then request it with a formal letter from them.
                              best,

                              GM

They accept expedition in certain conditions like an emergency situation, you can see it on the official uscis website
