However, generally many attorney consider 1 years as rule of thumb.

That said, now that you have waited 19 months, I would recommend you give it another couple of months and see if any movement happens to your case. That's not for any legal reasons but to try to save you some money.

If you don't mind the money and just want the case be adjudicated, especially you have a simple case (i.e. don't have any national security issue or criminal records), you can file now.

PS- generally you might want to submit a case inquiry to USCIS first and show they deny your expedite request.
flando Thanks for your input. I was really convinced to file a Mandamus but now that I have seen many people having their cases transferred from TSC to NSC so maybe you are right that I should wait a few more months. I am still thinking about it. NSC seems to have cleared his backlog and hopefully will start clearing TSC's backlog. But I am not sure how long people have been waiting after they received the notice of transfer. In another words: having their case transferred to NSC and still wait months is useless!

I don't want to generalize things, but I would expect some action taken within 6 months after case transfer absent any national security issues.

Again, if you just tired of wait and willing to pay, file a case now.

my case wasn't at the TSC .. mine was at NSC lin2009XXXXXXX and it was transferred to local office for an interview.. and the local office approved my application 3 months later after the interview day...

I applied in NOV 2019 I was ready to sue them also, but i got approved two months before i file the madamus, saved some money. I said 2 years is way too long for our cases to be adjudicated. But the frustration with USCIS will continue this year.. they said nothing, they done nothing.
I am waiting for my 3rd travel document, i applied in feb 2021... its crazy.

You applied in November 2019 for RTD or GC?
I applied for GC in Nov 2019 also and still heard nothing.

I have said again and again and again, if there is only one thing you need to know about immigration, besides don't lie, is this -

OTHER'S EXPERIENCES DO NOT TRANSLATE TO YOURS.

Even if 99% people's cases have been approved do not imply yours will be.

It's useless to say "oh blabla's case got approved but mine still haven't."

Your case could take much longer or shorter than others'. You just need to wait, or file a lawsuit.

No I didn’t skip. I wrote in possession. Simple.

So just to clarify, your old RTD expired when they approve the new one, right?
It still had a month left till expire , so I got one month of overlap in the two documents.

The first time I used RTD , I didn’t have GC application pending, hadn’t applied at that point yet.

the second time I traveled I had my GC in hand. So again nothing pending at that time.

but each time on return I was taken to secondary inspection at airport. Two out of three times , no questions asked . Just waited until they let me go. The third time , I was asked few general questions about where I live in US , what I do for work, what countries and cities I visited in the past 5 years. More like a interview but it was over in less than 5 minutes.

to my surprise the time that I was questioned, is when I had my Green Card in hand and presented at the border. The other two times that I wasn’t questioned is when I didn’t have my GC yet because I hadn’t applied.

Do you mean when you had your green card with your travel document, you were still summoned for secondary inspections and asked questions? I thought if you had a green card you will not be asked anymore. Thanks

                      • I have been seeing many I-485 applications from 2019 being transferred from Texas SC to Nebraska SC which gives me hope since now NSC cleared their backlog and apparently is helping TSC clears theirs too. But has anyone who sent the I-485 application in 2020 got transferred from TSC to Nebraska SC? Thanks

Yes that’s right. I was questioned.

                          • Just got letter that my case was transferred to National Benefit Center. Was trying to check processing time for I-485 in NBC, but there is no timeline at all. What do you think next step would be? And who got the same notice?
I mean thanks that at least they "looked" at my case, but what's gonna be next?

                            • Many cases from 2018 to 2020 are transferred from TX service center to Nebraska office.
Still don't know how much we have to wait.
I filed case in 2019 Jan and case transferred to Neb office in December

As far as historical information goes, NBC don't adjudicate any AOS case.

Case was transferred there only to be routed to field offices for an interview.

Chances are you will receive an interview notice within 6-12 months. There is also a small chance they (field offices, not NBC) will wave it and adjudicate without interview.
