Generally the RFE can be updated in case management systems within a week or so, but depends on offices it can take up to a month.
You might want to followup by contacting USCIS if no updates after a month and make sure you keep a copy of the mail tracking number

I know different people have different experiences but some high-level overview will be great!
Thank you so much!
Hi, did they schedule an interview for you? It’s just I got a letter requesting additional documents and medical. I’m afraid that after sending it to them, they will schedule an interview.

Is it ok ?
Yes, it is normal and that’s how it should be when we file for I 485, we generally file for EAD, AP and GC application.
please check your application for I131 which you submitted to USCIS. Probably you have selected for AP.
One of the advantages of I-485 application is if we want to apply for RTD, we don’t have to pay the fees instead we need to submit I 485 receipt as a payment with the RTD application.

We all know how uncertain the USCIS is and their system.
I have seen people who’s status got updated after receiving the RFE is within next day (1 day) minimum and maximum even took 14 days (2 weeks).Last edited by luckycharm4111; 03-10-2022, 08:09 PM.

Hey guys, I have religiously followed this forum for a while now and have been encouraged by everyone’s comments. However my 3 years wait is finally over. I received an update to my case yesterday. My timeline is below.
Feb 2018 - Case approved by IJ
March 27, 2019 - 1-485 submitted (TSC)
Feb 27, 2020 - Fingerprint added to case
Dec 28. 2021. - case transferred to another office
Feb 10, 2022- Request for additional evidence (Medicals. Didn’t submit any when 1-485 was filed)
Feb 28, 2022 - RFE received
March 10 - card in production
Thank you all.

Hey, after more than 20 months, I finally saw some move in my I-485 application - they updated the status to "Request for INITIAL Evidence Was Sent".
What concerns me is that my medical is not expired (will expire in a few weeks nut not yet) and I did send my birth certificate by the time I sent the I-485 package!
So what else could that RFE be for? Any input?
Thanks

there is no point second guessing what it is, especially with zero knowledge of your case and background.
It could also be medical too. Like I said before, just wait.

If you selected RTD in your form I-131, then the AP is issued in mistake.
You should not travel with AP. While you might not run into problems returning, you face serious risks of CBP mess up your admission code.
You should contact the office approving your I-131 and ask them to correct the mistake.

Please stop giving a wrong information here by saying it’s gonna create a big mess for using AP. No that is totally wrong information.
My friend recently used Advance Parole for his business trip because that country was not accepting the RTD. So he has to use his passport and Advance Parole and he didn’t have any issue while coming back at the Port of Entry with CBP officer.
If you have a correct reason and evidence that why you are using the AP then there shouldn’t be any issue at all.Last edited by luckycharm4111; 03-11-2022, 08:35 PM.

there is a huge difference between an AP and RTD.
In law, when CBP officers inspect you under AP, you were "Paroled" into the US, this is where the name "Advanced Parole" comes in. You will NOT be ADMITTED as an asylee using AP.
I never claim you can never return, but what I sad is you risk the CBP mess up your status.
In law, if you ever face any inadmisibility grounds, you are no longer an asylee and USCIS can deport you without terminating your asylum status first. It's a big issue.
That said, most people won't face that because their adjustment of status case will be approved.
But what you said is very dangerous, even in case of your friend, for countries not accepting RTD s/he should still apply for it, and use it to return to the US. AP won't help her in any way travel abroad s/he still needs to use her passport. AP and RTD is only used when reentering the US in such cases.
Also - as i said countless times, your friend's experience does not apply for any other people. It's completely irresponsible to suggest so.
Lastly, here is what USCIS said -- Asylees (individuals who have been granted asylum) may travel abroad with the prior approval of the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Such prior approval comes in the form of a refugee travel document.

We all are here in this blog to share our experiences but not to give any legal advices.
I shared what my friend experienced and trying to put out there. As we always says Every case is different and USCIS make the decision or action only by case-by-case.
Nothing is guaranteed, if it is possible with one person doesn’t mean that it will be the same with others.
I’m just expressing the facts what I have seen and experienced, doesn’t mean that I’m suggesting or forcing the people here.
