Two weeks ago I got a notification that a request for initial evidence was sent ( I wonder what that could be for, possibly for a new medical since my i693 expired a year ago, what do y'all think?!)
I moved to a different apartment last week and have updated my address with USPS as well as USCIS the day I moved; However, I still have not received an actual notice yet (could that be due to my recent address change?) Anyways, I submitted an e-request for a copy of the notice yesterday, I was wondering how long should I wait for a copy to arrive and when should I start worrying if it is still not received ? What can I do if still don't get it via mail? thank you in advance !

It's never a good idea that you moved right in middle of this.

Unfortunately you would have to wait.

My experience is USPS generally did a good job forwarding your mail. But it took about 3-4 weeks.

If you submitted a e-request you should hear back in 2-4 weeks. If not, call USCIS.

In the mean time, there is no point second guessing what it is. Completely useless and nobody knows. But if you want, you can start a new medical right now and you can respond if it's for an updated medical.

Also, on a separate note, does Texas Service Center schedule interviews at all or for that, my case would need to be transferred to a field office first? I am just wondering whether it makes it more or less likely to have an interview scheduled after first receiving RFE from the service center directly? I realize that probably this question cannot be answered, but am just curious what people think. Thanks!

Generally speaking they won't be issuing RFE if an interview is required, they will ask you for the document in the interview.

That said, please do not think about questions like this. It's not helpful at all (i.e. second guessing what's going on).

Just wait and see what they need.

Hello everyone. I finally received my green card, I am so happy ! it is really going to open me a lot of doors. It took me exactly 3 years to get my green card from the day I applied.

Jan 2018 Sent Asylum application
March 2018 Asylum Granted
April 2019 sent I-485 form TSC
February 2021 fingerprints
Jan 20th 2022, application transferred to another service for faster ...
Jan 25th transferred to NBC
Feb 26th 2022 Request for additional evidence
March 19th sent Medical Exams
March 26th New card is being produced.
March 28th Application approved
March 29th New card ready
March 30th Card was picked up by USPS
April 3rd Green card in hand ( from 3/26/21 to 3/26/32) exactly 11 years of validity

And when i came back today, they simply checked my Green card and passport, took a photo and that was all, not even 5 min.
I wanted to post this here because i know a lot of people here always ask questions about traveling with their passport when they get their green card, so there is no problem with that at all. I have been waiting for my travel document for 6 months now, i applied even before getting my green card, so i guess i won't need that when it's available.

first of all we should all appreciate you sharing the experience.

However, it's simply not the case that you face no issues translate into "no problem with that at all" because one fundamental principle in immigration - OTHERS' IMMIGRATION EXPERIENCES DO NOT TRANSLATE INTO YOUR OWN.

that means 99% of people's petition got approved do not mean yours will be approved; 99% of people face no issues do not mean you will not face issues. etc.

Like I explained countless of times, legally speaking under current case law, generally speaking you can use your home country passport once you received your green card, especially travel to countries that is not your home country.

You should not expect any issues returning to the US.

However, it does not mean that you are guaranteed to not face issues. There are CBP officers who don't know the law or just being an *******.

Again, the risk is extremely low but not zero. If you encountered issues, know your rights. Do not sign any document and demand an attorney if needed.

i read here, you saying multiple times there is no issues traveling with your passport when you get your green card, and of course we are not stupid... we know our homecountries are not included since we are all asylees, i have never said such a thing. i don't need to give every single little details, it is not my job.
i simply shared this because i have read a lot of questions about traveling with passport when we get green card, and you have replied multiple times, and sometimes seeming annoyed about this same question popping up.
maybe i shouldn't have put AT ALL...

and of course nothing is never 100% guaranteed as a migrant in a country, only when you become a lawful citizen. I shared my experience as general, i just didn't think useful to include cases that can happen to 0.1% of people

Does anyone know how close to the expiration date of your travel document you can travel abroad? For example, in my home country, the max time you can have left on your passport when you leave is 3 months. Does someone knows if something like this applies to the travel document?

Also, can you renew it at some point when it's close to expiration date or do you have to wait till it's expired?

Refugee Travel Document is treated the same as passport in terms of validity requirements. And that depends on the country. Most countries require 6 months, some 3 month, very few only requires validity during your period of stay.

You can renewal anytime, just that you either need to send in your original travel doc when you renew or has to send in response of RFE if it's still valid. They will not issue you new ones unless you send in the original one that is still valid.

Hello there !
Finally got my RFE (Medical) and am ready to mail everything back this week - Do I just send the entire notice ( all pages) in the same order along with the sealed medical form to the address they stated in the notice? That's it , right ? Just wanted to double check before mailing it out. Thanks
