Asylum Based i-485

Hello, guys!!

I wanted to know how long is taking for cases in NBC because I live in LA, California. They received my application on April, 5th 2021 with my RTD application.

Today, my RTD was approved and I should be receiving it in the next couple of weeks.

I'm planning to travel to Europe around April and I don't know if I'll have my GC by then. Do I need to apply for another document to can I travel with only the RTD?

While you can request it generally they release every quarter, so next release would be around end of Dec.

NSC has < 10 new cases (as indicated by the "D") and TSC has 0 new cases.

they are clearing the backlog only.

While I agree that they are clearing the backlogs (and apparently NSC already finished it) by receiving no new asylum cases, it appears that they started receiving many more employment-based I-485 and are creating a new backlog of those cases. So now that NSC cleared its entire asylum-based i485 backlog, I am not sure if they will start getting old asylum-based cases from TSC or just focus on employment-based cases. We hope that they will start transferring i485 cases from TSC to NSC so the TSC backlog gets cleared too.

USCIS just shared 4th quarter statistics, and to me, I can no favorable trends when I looked at previous quarter reports even I can say it is worse obviously.

Thanks for the link. Looking at the statistics for NSC it seems that they have halved their asylum cases to around 3500 and approved about 3500.

NSC is really clearing the backlog.

speaking about TSC and other local field offices I am not sure what’s happening there.

TSC has always been a mystery to me as to what exactly their priorities are but for field offices - they mostly process the case on a first-in-first-out basis.

As the shift has just recently started, they need to do both training to officers and also process cases filed before the new cases coming in. I expect field offices mostly pick up their speed later FY2022.

That's because NBC, as I said multiple times, does not adjudicate any AOS cases.

That seems to be their priority now! Also, TSC had around 100 asylum-based cases less being adjudicated during the last quarter. So I have no hope that asylum-based applications will be transferred from TSC to NSC in order to be expedited and help clear the backlog. And I guess the only thing left for us to do is a Mandamus!

flando I know they don't but they do receive cases don't they?They review the application before forwarding it to local field offices. When I call USCIS they say my case is at NBC. If you look at "applications received" column it says they received zero asylum-based cases at NBC how can that be?
Also can I ask what is your title?You seem very confident about certain things and dismiss a lot of people's statements.

Previously I posted that I will sue USCIS.
my attorney sued them early November 2021, 2 weeks later all defendants were served.
today I received an email that case was updated “Request for evidence was mailed”
I guess it is the medical since mine is more than 2 years now.
I will keep you updated.

Many employed based applicants waited decades to file their cases, in any regard giving them priority is the right thing to do.

that said, the reason you see a lot of processing of employment based is USCIS needs to use all visa numbers before end of FY2021 (which unfortunately they did not, and wasted more than 60k visa numbers).

Lastly, the best course of action is not Mandamus, but a class action suit. I don't have the time for this but I do recommend those who do work with non-profit or civil rights groups on that.
