What will happen if I get a passport from my home country after receiving my LPR? Would it cause any problems during my naturalization?
Even when you apply to the Refugee Travel Document, there is a question that says:
"Since you were accorded refugee/asylee status, have you ever:
3.a. Returned to the country names above?
3.b. Applied for and/or obtained a national passport, passport renewal, or entry permit for that country?"
This is obviously referring to the country to are an aylee from. I know the RTD is a pain the neck myself for many reasons but it really is the safest option.

However it depends on your asylum case and what your government knows about you.
The safest bet is clearly not to apply for it after your get citizenship. However I even applied for it when my asylum case is pending and explained to USCIS without problems. You just have to be honest, and especially during LPR status, if you have a compelling need and it does not contradict your case, you should be ok.

They don't know what they are talking about.
You don't need their permission to use your passport unless the law specifically bans you doing so, such as when you are refugee and the law says you have to apply permission in the form of a RTD.
That said, advising you not to use national passport is always a safer bet, though not necessarily makes that much of a difference unless you are in special situation.

Thanks for sharing your experience Flando.
I guess you meant "The safest bet is clearly not to apply for it after your get ASYLUM", right?
Also, you mentioned if you have a "compelling reason". Can just travel to a third country (not COP) on vacation be considered a compelling reason?
I have my national passport valid until I apply for US citizenship (no need to renew it). Also, the last time I renewed it was even before applying for asylum (my passport has a really long validity period). So I do not think I will ever need to renew it but I will want to use it to travel (with my LPR) to a third neutral country for vacation.

Thanks so much!
However you need to pay 3X the fee.

What i mean "compelling reason" is when you want to renew your passport after getting green card. Leisure travel generally is not "compelling" to me considering some potential complications. Though legally speaking it's not something you cannot do.
