5/15 - I-130 sent with docs from New York City
    5/18 - package delivered
    5/19 - Receipt email

What now? I assume the notice will either say approved, and then we file I-485 or they need an interview, right?

Your case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS Texas Service Center for processing. Within 7-10 days by standard mail you will receive your official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) with your Receipt Number xxx. With the official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) you may visit www.uscis.gov where you can check the status of your case using My Case Status. We suggest you wait until you have received your Form I-797 before checking My Case Status.

This confirmation provides notification of the date USCIS received your case. This notice does NOT grant any immigration status or benefit. You MAY NOT present this notice as evidence that you have been granted any immigration status or benefit. Further, this notice does NOT constitute evidence that your case remains pending with USCIS. The current status of your case must be verified with USCIS.

What status do you have right now before submitting for I-130?

Whether you are able to file I-485 has nothing to do with I-130 approval. I-485 is to apply for Adjustment of Status, which is only for people in the US. If you are in the US, you can file I-485 as long as a visa number is available (I-130 approval is not needed). If you are not in the US, you will do Consular Processing abroad which will not involve I-485.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

So to file I-485, I don't need to file I-130?

          read this

Are you a US citizen? Is your spouse a US citizen?
If either of you is a US citizen and both of you live in the US. You can file the I-130 with the I-485.

I'm the spouse of a US citizen. We filed I-130 first. Can I send I-485 with I-130 receipt notice (form I-797)? Or do I need to wait for it to be approved?

                You should have together

If you and your spouse live in the US then there is no need in filing the I-130 first. You should have filed the I-130 along with the I-485.
Since you decided to go through the long process. You have to wait until the I-130 is approved before you file the I-485.
If you submit the I-485 without an approval letter for the I-130 , it will be rejected

You can file Form I-485 attaching a copy of the Form I-130 receipt notice

Do they approve I-130 at once or require interview? If both happen, does it depend on what to have it approved at once or called for an interview? If called for an interview for I-130, do we still have to go though interview for I-485?

I'm a spouse of a US citizen filing concurrently. Here's my timeline:

                        05/13/2017 - Mailed i-130/i-485/i-765
                        05/16/2017 - Documents delivered

Still haven't gotten any notification yet and I did attach form g-1145. Getting anxious.

                            Process Case

Hi everyone, the current status of my application is this: On May 17, 2017, we received your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, Receipt Number ..., and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case.

Please follow the instructions in the notice.

If you do not receive your receipt notice by June 16, 2017, please call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283.

If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

I just received the notice, but there's no instructions in it. It just says: Petition has been received and is in process.

                            Is this what they mean?
