  • Feb 2017 Filer: I-485 through Marriage Timeline

    Hi everyone,

Thought I'd share my timeline for anyone that filed in Feb 2017

    - 2/01/17: Sent everything to Chicaco lockbox (All paperwork together)
    - 2/08/17: "We received your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative."
    - 2/10/17: Received all Receipts in mail
    - 2/14/17: "We accepted the fingerprint fee for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust
    Status.
Our National Benefits Center location is working on your case."
    - 3/31/17: "We scheduled you for your interview and mailed you an interview notice."
    - 5/03/17: "Interview" Went well but she wanted more evidence we lived together as we are both 23 and 24 years old.
    - 5/03/17: "We mailed a request for additional evidence for your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative." She gave me this
notice at the office so we wouldn't have to wait for it in the mail
    - 5/08/17: Mailed all info requested and more
    - 5/12/17: "We received your response to our Request for Evidence for your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative. Our
National Benefits Center office is working on your case again."
    - 5/19/17: "On May 19, 2017, we approved your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative"
    - 5/19/17: "We ordered your new card.:
    - 5/19/17: "We approved your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status."
    - 5/22/17: I don't know why but the date changed. "We approved your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent
    Residence or to Adjust Status."
    - 5/24/17: "On May 24, 2017, we mailed your new card for Receipt Number **** **** **** , to the address you gave us. If you
do not receive your card by June 23, 2017, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request that we send your new
    card to you."

Still have not received any "Case Approved/Welcoming letter" in the mail but it's good news
I also don't understand why that changed the I-485 Approval date from 5/19-5/22. Has this happened to anyone?

Will help in any way I can

What kind of evidence did you provide to show that you live together, and what additional information did they want to see?

          Congratulations.

We have our interview on June 7th in the Los Angeles Office and my priority date is 1/17. We got the interview notice the day after the EAD approval.

How long was your interview? Our is scheduled for 7:15 AM‚ so I'm guessing we're probably the first one for the day

She asked us to send our Verizon Bill from when we got married (August 2016) as we only gave the most recent bill.
She wanted affidavits from people that know we live together and are willing to testify.
She also asked for anything that was sent directly to me as my name isn't on any of the gas, electric, internet bills and we don't have a joint account so she wasn't sure we live together apparently.

I overstayed my welcome so I never put my name on any bills. Except Verizon and had mail sent to me under my name which is what I sent in as well as a Wells Fargo cashiers check I never deposited when I closed my account with them. Everything had our address on it

Sent in online orders I received with my name and address.
Letters from friends. Notarized affidavits from My parents and his. Our landlord also wrote us a letter

I also sent in a ******** conversation between my mom and his mom discussing our wedding and my mom talking about when she stayed with us.

            More photos

Exactly one week later we were approved

              You're almost done

Our interview was definitely less than 30 min. She verified what we wrote on forms we sent in to make sure everything was correct. Asked us:
              - When and where we met
              - 1st date
              - Move in date
              - Proposal
              - Marriage date
              - Asked for photos (Make sure you have a good amount of printed photos together and with friends and family)
              - Date of entry on I-94

I would also bring letters from each others parents and landlord so you have more of a chance to get approved on the spot.
Every bill or mail sent to both of you with your address
Phone bill from month you got married or close to the date showing calls to each other
Bring a copy of the forms you sent in (We didn't but would have looked better if we had)
CC Statements if you have any together (We don't)
Literally anything and everything you can think of.

Hope this helps Remember to stay calm (It's not a formal office at all, old cubicles) Don't guess any answers you aren't sure of. Practice asking questions to each other to make sure you remember everything or say everything the same in case they separate you.

              Best of luck !!
