  • Contact Congressmen?

    Hi friends,

My I-485 application has been fall out of the normal processing time, and we plan to contact congressmen to do an inquiry. Does anyone of you have done this before? If so, how do you typically address the situation? What information do I need to include in the message?
Is there any things that I should be aware of before I contact them?

    Thanks in advance.

Send them an email and explain your situation. They'll either send you an authorization form or to come in and sign one. If they don't reply to email, give them a call, but they're usually pretty fast with replies. Bring your receipts with you, explain your situation and what you would like them to do. They'll send a request on your case to USCIS on your behalf and update you if anything. Just keep in mind that they have no weight in USCIS's decision and they cant push USCIS to make one, but they can go deeper into the issues for no cost. Be polite and that's all

What was your submittal date? Have you completed Biometrics yet? If you have been waiting less than 8 months for an interview, don't waste your breath on asking help from Congressional office yet, because you are still within expected processing time.

My PD is mid-December, 2016. I know it is not like crazily delayed, but since I know most people got their green card within 6 months from my field office, and I still haven't got an interview notification yet, I think we would just give it a try to get an update status. I don't actually mind to wait for a bit longer, but I have two overseas travel plans in the upcoming summer, and I am trying to figure out whether I would need to cancel/reschedule my trip so that it won't conflict with the interview. BTW, my biometrics was done in mid-January this year, and my case was ready to schedule interview since late January.
