  • Marriage based AOS, advice needed

    Hi everyone,
My partner and I filed for my AOS after getting married a few months ago. We've been together over two years and got married this year. We love each other and the marriage is bonafide. Supporting docs/facts for the AOS case: We have shared health insurance and a joint bank account, and we have been living together for over 1 1/2 year. We have affidavits of support from our friends, pictures from our wedding, a honeymoon and the trips that we've done together.
Before we got married, I had a pending asylum case. This might look suspicous for immigration people and question our relationship. Should I hire a lawyer in this situation? Really don't know what to do, and also don't have extra money to spend on a lawyer... Any advice is appreciated.

    Thank you!

Most people do not need an attorney to represent them for adjustment of status. If you're not in removal proceedings, or have a criminal, I don't see what value and attorney would add by helping you fill out forms

      Thank you!
I already filed the papers, it wasn't that hard.

Is the pending asylum case still an issue? If you have any hearings scheduled to finish it up, or if you are in "Removal" status, that has to be resolved before you submit your Adjustment package.
