I'm married to USC but she can't put me in her insurance. Long story.
This is what I found on healthcare.gov:
Undocumented immigrants aren’t eligible to buy Marketplace health coverage, or for premium tax credits and other savings on Marketplace plans. But they may apply for coverage on behalf of documented individuals.
My current employer offers health insurance but I'm afraid to apply and have my current immigration status discovered and then lose my job!

I'm just assuming that it'll be so, but I'm honestly unfamiliar with the process.

I'm not using Medicaid, but MassHealth.
I was approved for it back in September 2016.
Anyway, going to hospital tomorrow to get me out of Masshealth and be guided to find a private health insurance for me! I know I must be dumb, but somehow I didn't consider state insurance to be a federal means tested benefit!
Originally posted by azblk View PostYou should familiarize yourself with the process and see if you can sign up. From my own experience i dont see how applying for employers insurance will create issues for you. I think you would have bigger problems if somehow USCIS found out you are using state funded insurance (medicaid) than being fired by your employer. It will look very bad for you as you are already using means tested benefits. If you do not mind me asking how did you even qualify for these benefits? most if not all states require proof of legal residenceLast edited by steadygaze; 07-24-2017, 10:25 PM.

Also, does anyone know what happens when you send I-485 without I-864. My wife and I haven't found a sponsor for me yet, but we want to send I-485 to asap to protect me from deportation. No criminal records here, but we never know these days. More specifically, when they send a request for the sponsorship form, how long do they give you to find the sponsor and send I-864?
Thanks everyone!

We have i-864 for sponsor, but not for a joint sponsor who we need but haven't found yet. Will it also be rejected even though we will send the sponsor I-864 but not yet the joint sponsor I-864?
Originally posted by azblk View Postit will be rejected. i-864 is now required at filing unlike in the past when you could file it separately.Last edited by steadygaze; 07-24-2017, 11:21 PM.

Thank you. That's the plan- to buy some time until we find a qualified joint sponsor.
Thank you!

Are you saying your spouse who would be your sponsor does not make enough money to sponsor you but you want to go ahead and submit an i-864 from them? If you do that, it might buy you sometime but at some point during the process you will receive a RFE about the insufficient income.
