  • Go back to school while I-485 is pending

I've been waiting for my GC interview for several months already. I took a leave as absent while I was F1 student, now I plan to go back to school for the coming semester. But I guess I can't apply for F1 visa since I am in GC process, so does anybody know what is my status right now? What paper I should provide to school in order to go back school as a FT student or PT?
I asked school's international student office but they didn't give me any useful information Thank you, guys!!!!

I would first of all call USCIS and submit an inquiry. If you have been waiting for over 75 days with no updates, then I would call. Regarding school, I have no idea, sorry.

And what paper I should prove tho? Since they can't issue me I-20 if I am not an international student. It is really confusing....

Who do you need to prove anything to? You're not requesting financial aid or in-state tuition. You're not applying for a student visa, you don't need an I-20. Not many schools have admission policies that require you to prove legal presence. If the school you want to enroll in does, you'll find out in the admissions process, at which point you can try to resolve it with the admissions department. Your first step is to enroll, NOT as an international student

you are no longer a F-1 student. Your status is now i-485 pending, you do not need an i-20. Depending on your school your i-797C should be enough.

I need to prove I am not international student anymore to international student office, since my status is still F1 on their record. However, I am in pending process and they are not sure what my situation. So I guess I will go straight to admission office and ask them not the international student office.
