I am filling out I-485 as an applicant married to an US citizen. Back in 2015-2016, I worked past my CPT authorization period. My CPT was authorized from 08/27/2014 until 08/26/2015 but I ended up working until 04/29/2016. As a result, it's my understanding that I should answer "YES" to questions 16 and 17 "Have you ever worked in the US without authorization?" and "Have you ever violated the terms or conditions of your nonimmigrant status?"
Instructions for Part 8 states that I need to provide an explanation of the events and circumstances in the space provided in Part 14. Additional Information. For now, I just wrote, "On 08/07/2014, CPT employment was authorized from 08/27/2014 until 08/26/2015 but the actual employment ended on 04/29/2016."
Is this the correct way to present this information? Do I need to add more information? I am probably going to send in my tax returns as I have paid all of my taxes even during the unauthorized work period. Is it in any way negatively affect my application? I read online that immediate relatives should be fine but I wasn't sure if there were actual applicants who went through similar situation.
Thank you so much in advance for your help.
