I have been following this forum since March 2017. I would like to share my experience as to motivate and inspire those who are patiently waiting for their green card.
Timeline:
October 2016 - I-130 approval
March 24, 2017 - Filed I-485 & I-765
April 5, 2017 - Txt msg notifications of USCIS receipt of documents
May 2, 2017 - Biometrics
May 17, 2017 - Case is ready to be scheduled for interview
June 8, 2017 - SR on EAD.
June 12, 2017 - USCIS response: EAD is still within processing time.
July 3, 2017 - We have scheduled your I-485 interview on August 1, 2017.
July 8, 2017 - 2nd SR on EAD.
July 13, 2017 - We ordered your new card.
July 20, 2017 - EAD received in the mail.
July 20, 2017 - went to Social security.
July 21, 2017 - went to DMV.
August 1, 2017 - Interview Day. My spouse and I were scheduled to be interviewed at 1:40 p.m. However, due to the number of other couples still being interviewed by the ISO assigned to us, we waited until 2:19 p.m. Then at 2:20 p.m., the female ISO called our last name and she led the way to her office. I immediately took note of her last name that was posted on her glass window. She then swore us in and we took our seats. She asked for our driver's license and passports. She was looking at the folder which I assumed had the documents that we submitted. I have ensured that during the application, I submitted as many evidences as possible. Then she said, the I-30 has already been approved but I just want to go over some details. She asked my spouse's name, address, date of birth and place of birth. She then asked me where I was born and whether my ex-spouse was in the U.S. or has ever been in the U.S. She went over the names of my children as well as my spouse's daughter. She read the names of my parents and confirmed who they were. She asked where we met. My spouse even joked how funny our first meeting was and the ISO laughed too. She then continued looking and punching holes on the documents as well as signing things. She asked me if there are things we would like to submit to further prove that our marriage was bonafide. I handed her our mortgage documents, joint bank account and updated car insurance policy. Since I was also under the J-1 visa waiver rule, she asked me if I had fulfilled that requirement. I told her I submitted the copy of the approval notice for the I-612 but since she could not find it in the folder she was sifting through, I gave her the original I-797 Approval notice for the I-612 which she photocopied. Then she asked me the yes/no questions. She told me that all the documents were good and that she is approving my I-485. My spouse and I were so happy that we kissed in front of her without inhibitions. She told me that she was going to stamp my passport with the I-551 and that I should expect my green card in a week or two. She also told me that prior to the 90 days anniversary of the 2 year conditional green card, I must file form I-751. She further informed me that if we continue to have a bonafide marriage and we could prove it with substantial documents as evidence when we file the I-751, we may not need to appear for interview and the 10 year green card will be approved and sent in the mail. I was so ecstatic and happy that whole process has finally come with an approval. She ushered us out of her office and told us to wait at the main lobby. She came back after 3 minutes and handed me my passport where I saw the I-551 stamped on the passport page. I thank her and shook her hand and told her to have a great week!
All in all the interview took 25 minutes.
Have faith and trust God no matter what. My faith was tested initially but I hold on to God's promise that if He brings you to it, He will see you through it!
Today, I saw that my card has already been ordered. Praise God for His Love and Mercy!
