Married filing separately, principal I-485 receipt required to file I-485?

Hi everyone,

I am trying to file my I-485 before the forms change on August 25th. However I will not receive my husbands I-485 receipt in time, as his was only just filed. I have his I-140 receipt.

Is the principal I-485 receipt required when filing separately?

You can try to sent it with i-140 receipt but I have read in some forums that USCIS is rejecting some i-485 packets for using the old forms despite the fact that we are still well within the grace period. I would just send it. The worst that can happen is it will be returned.
