    • I submitted paperwork today to renew EAD/AP. My husband's combo card was approved last October, and with the way things are going, it looks like we will be waiting a while for an interview.... 18-29.5 months here in Houston.

      • FINALLY received AP approval notice

I've done several SRs but they're all pointless. The only response I ever received was that there's currently a backlog at the National Benefits Center. I even sent a letter (advised by a USCIS officer when I went in to hopefully get information), but I've gotten no response.

I finally contacted my congressman a couple weeks ago, so I'm waiting patiently.

        My timeline:

August 15: Concurrent filing of I-485, I-130 and I-131 received
        Biometrics done early in September
        October 16: RFE information received

I really don't understand why the wait is so long. The processing time online is 2.5 to 5 months. They're currently working on November 3rd for I-131. The unexplained wait is just so frustrating.

        Hey everyone,

After an 8 month wait I've finally received my AP. I contacted the congressman about 1 month ago so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. I'm just happy I can finally travel since we've been postponing a family trip for months now.

Congrats, I am glad it finally came through for you. I am still waiting on mine. Can you tell me which congressman did you contact and do I just call them? Do I have provide paperwork or anything?

I'm in Southern New Jersey so I contacted Tom Mac Arthur's office. They mailed some forms which I had to fill out (easy stuff), and I also had to attach copies of my information from USCIS.

I am thinking the same thing. With this delay, it is a good idea to renew my EAD card as I am working. By the way, I did not get AP for the first time. Can I apply for advance parole with new EAD?

              Thank you

                • Congrats to those who are seeing updates. I am sure everyone will see more updates soon!

I urge you all to sign up on https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/ with your email id and enter all your case numbers there if you have not already done so. It uses a one time password method everytime you login but its much more pro-active in updating case status. I see many more updates there than the usual USCIS case status site https://egov.uscis.gov/

I am expecting my other parent's GC on Saturday as shown by USPS tracking. Thanks to everyone on this forum and good luck to everyone else!

                  • My timeline

                    Hi,

Just want to give a brief update about my case. It seems like those with PD on August 2017 are getting updates!! Congrats.

                    My case: AOS marriage based
                    Married on 7/22/17
                    Des Moines, Iowa.
                    PD: 8/25/2017
                    Bio: 9/22/2017
Case ready to schedule for an interview since 10/2017
                    EAD received: 12/18/2017

Two days ago I woke up to an email saying new card is produced. On the same day I received another update: I-485 approved! Praise the Lord! We have not gone to the interview and I still have my medical report with me. Does this mean I do not need an interview? What about I-130 approval?

I am waiting for the letter in the mail. Hopefully can give you more update about what was really going on. Many thanks to all of your input and suggestion. I have followed this thread for awhile and I have benefited by many of your input.

                        Hi Sardin,

That's great news. Please keep us updated with what comes in the mail.
Can I ask which visa you are adjusting from? Is it K1?
Is there anything special about your case that you think might have got you through without interview?

This is interesting because k-1 applicants do not have to file form I-130 with an approved I-129F, unless you do not get married within 90 days of arrival in the US. Your train of thought is correct. Most k-1 AOS applicants get their green cards in the mail without an interview.

Thanks. I will sure do. I am under F-1 student visa, completing my Ph.D degree. My husband and I thought it could be due to his stable government related job, and that we own a house. That is just the speculation. We also thought it could be an interview during conditional green card removal later. Hope this information helps.

Interesting , makes me think its a mistake online or mistake internally. There is no way you dont have to do an interview . Only specific guidelines permit it like coming in on K-1 or having had agents come to your house before and that checks out.
F-1 will always receive interview and also whatever jobs the spouse holds has no bearings on the application .
