  • Been Married for two years. Adjusting status help!!

I was married for about two years, and I divorce my ex husband and my current boyfriend of one year proposed to me. Would I be able to adjust my immigration status and not get questioned about my first marriage?
My fist husband I caught him cheating on me after six months into our marriage. We broke it off, but no one asked for a divorce. We sort of lost contact. I have been in a relationship with my current boyfriend he proposed and he wants to help me adjust my status in the United states so i can finish school. Would immigration deny my application? I know its a stupid question but my first marriage didn't work out and, I did not marry him for a green card. Since we broke up I did not want to file a petition with someone that I don't live with, and end up in deeper trouble.

How did you enter the US?

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

You may or may not be questioned about your first marriage. It does not matter for immigration purposes that you were married once unless you came in with a marriage related visa like k-1. They are only concerned about current marriage and that it is bona fide. You will be asked to provide proof that the previous marriage is over and done with ie Divorce certificate.
