  • Combo Card Lost. Need Advice

I lost my wallet yesterday which includes, my DL, credit/debit cards, and my Combo Card.

Should I request for replacement or just wait until Sept 30th, which will be the 180th day before expiry. And I'll just renew it? Either way I need to pay $410.

Suggestions will be greatly appreciated. :c

A receipt to allow you to replace a lost EAD allows you to work for 90 days from the date of hire (although EADs take longer than 90 days to get these days). A receipt to renew an EAD only extends the validity of the expiring EAD for 180 days, i.e. it only allows you to work in combination with the expired EAD, which you don't have.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

      I'm confused.

Here is my situation. I am currently employed since May. (My EAD got approved on March 29, 2017).
I lost my EAD yesterday, and we are moving out of state next month (which means we also need to change address our I-485 and I-130).
And so I need to quit my current job and find one after we move. And I need my EAD to do so.

I researched and found that I can file replacement for EAD and pay the fee.
I also found out that I can renew EAD 180 days prior to expiration. (180th day will be on Sept 30, 2017, which means I can file for renewal starting October)

So, I dont know whether to file for replacement or just renew it. Either way, I need to pay the fee.

Question, If I replace it, will they update the new expiration of EAD or no? (The current will expire on March 28, 2018)
If I renew it, will they send me a new card?

      Please enlighten me.

I understand now what you're trying to explain as I read it on here: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/ac...ments/receipts

90days from the date of hire. So if I file for replacement NOW and not hired until we move, let's say I got hired on November 1st, does this mean the receipt is valid until Feb 1st? (which is 90days)?

Also, is replacing EAD will change it's expiration? What I mean, is it going to reset to a 1year validity again?

        Thanks!
