  • Need Advice - Awaiting approval after RFE in Houston

    Hi All.

    My situation:

    - AOS through US spouse (i-131)
    - Attended interview in Houston about a month ago
    - Officer identified medical had expired and issued me a RFE on the spot, no other issues
    - Submitted new medical through mail and it was received on 16th august
    - Houston field office currently closed due to hurricane until 6th or 7th sep
    - Haven't heard from USCIS about approval, case status just says that the info was received
    - EAD has recently expired and I have applied for renewal a little late so I'm without EAD right now (not working at this point but need to get back to work soon)

What should I do to get the greencard in hand ASAP so I can get back to work? Am I in for a long wait before I get the card inhand?

Should I call the Houston office when it reopens? Can't seem to setup online appointment right now...

    Any advice would be great.

    Thanks

Your wait for the green card can be between 2 weeks to over a year. I know a lot of people who sent the after interview and they didn't hear anything for months. And some had a positive response in less than 30days.

So go ahead and continue processing your renewal for Ead. Just in case your GC gets delayed.

Houston is going be even more backed up after this Harvey Hurricane so be a little patient and call the next week regarding your GC.
