  • New Orleans field office. Ead and Aos

    Hi!
So fully self aware, i am a worrier. I am a Canadian citizen, married my USC hudband in april 2017. Went through a lawyer and submitted our paperwork (Aos, Ead, Travel and sponsorship), which was received Aug 8. I have already done my biometrics appointment. (Super quick, over paid parking.)
My AOS notification changed as of September 18, that they would schedule an interview and send me a noticefication for when. My husbands status for sponsorship has NOT changed and no notice in the mail yet. Are there more than one type of interview? How long does it take to get scheduled?
Also, i have not seen anything change about my EAD or travel permission document, no change on uscis website. How long does it usually take? The lawyers said an average of 45 days (past that), and i know it hasn't reached the uscis deadline of 90 days, but i am starting to worry and stress.
Anyone else filing from the new orleans area have insight or experience with these? Would really love to be working again, and also sleeping through the night.

    Thanks in advance!!

Well, first and foremost, worry won't fix anything with USCIS....so relax, it will work out fine. The EAD/AP is usually handled by the National Benefit Center with little or nothing to do with the NOLA field office. The schedule for interview noticed you received was as a result of you completing your biometric screening. Then the USCIS center will then schedule you for an interview notify the field office and they will then send you a letter to that effect. You have to be super follow up on them over there. Things aren't working as fast as you expect at the NOLA field office.

    Good luck.

I heard from a representative at my congressman's office that recently, USCIS is going straight to interviews and skipping on EADs. Not sure if that is true but I haven't received my EAD but I got my interview notice 10/10 for 11/8.
      Forms sent 6/2
      Forms received 6/4
      Received texts/e-mails 6/6
      PD 6/5 & 6/6
NOA between 6/8 and 6/12 (I was out of town)
Biometrics letter in mail 6/17 w/ 6/28 date
      SR 9/2
      Contacted Congressman 10/1
      Called the Congressman's office 10/10
      Interview letter 10/10
      Approval Letters for I-765 and I-131 10/16
      Received EAD/AP card 10/17
      Interview 11/8 RFE after
      New Card Being Produced 11/16
      Conditional GC received 11/24

I read somewhere that people under DACA were all skipping the EAD, i am not sure that will translate over to people with a different status.

It will make alot of sense if they do it like that. Since EAD is almost taking forever now too. Did you receive your Notice for the Interview?. I have not and mine is 10/24
