  • AOS based on application area.

    Hi!

I've been pouring over the forums for the last few weeks, and they have been incredibly helpful in finding information and also to calm some worries during this whole process.
I have started this thread because I'm curious about the timelines based on where i filed, and hope someone can tell me about their experiences. I am also sure that others are also curious about people who filed in their area, because it seems that timelines are different based on your assigned field office.

So here is my application info:

I'm the applicant, my husband is USC. Married 4/18/17
    Field office: New Orleans
    Filed: I-130, I-131, I-485, I-765.
Additional documentation: Medical, letters of support from our families and friends, photos showing relationship and joint travel, proof of joint finances, proof of home ownership, birth certificates, marriage certificate, his: tax records, ssn card, and dl.
Method of filing: We hired an immigration lawyer.
    Mailed out Aug 3 2017
    PD: Aug 8 2017
    Notice date: Aug 11
    Biometrics notice date: Aug 18
    Biometrics Appointment: Sept 6
Online update of AoS: Sept 18 - Reday to schedule interview, will be notified with date.

No notice received yet. I will update when something happens.

Where did you file from? Where is your field office? Whats your timeline?

Good luck to all, wherever you are in the process!

    Chicago AOS

Met my now husband August 2013. Married 04/08/17. We both live in Cicero, IL which is south of Chicago IL.

    Sent forms 6/2
Forms received by Chicago Lockbox 6/4
    Received texts and emails 6/6
    Checks cashed 6/6
Received 797 receipts sometime between 6/8 and 6/12 since we were out of town
    Bioemtrics notice 6/17
    Bioemtrics appointment 6/28
    Submitted a case inquiry 9/2
    Expected response from USCIS 9/24

From 9/2 and still to this day, my case inquiry has not been assigned to anyone based on USCIS website

After submitting a case inquiry I contacted my congressman twice.

Went to my Congressman's office to fill out a privacy release form 10/3
Called Congressman's office for an update, the rep assigned it to another rep 10/10
Get home and my husband and father-in-law surprise me with interview notice 10/10
    Interview is scheduled for 11/8

We did not hire a lawyer since I have no criminal record, have been living here for 16 years and 4 months. I am from Poland and my husband is a USC but his parents are from Mexico.

For the interview, we are going to bring the forms we sent, taxes for both of us from the past three years (I have been working thanks to Obama's DACA program), pay stubs, original marriage certificate, original birth certificates (mine will come with a translation), original passports (I have two my old one which has the Visa and has expired and the new one), photo IDs, my two EADs, wedding photos (I will bring more), flight and hotel information from November's little vacation to Las Vegas, photos from Las Vegas, joint account statements, my Chase account quickpay credit and debit transactions, VW bills, auto insurance, Wells Fargo credit card statement, wedding ring statement (to show that the ring has been purchased and is here to stay hahaha and not borrowed), hotel information for when we went on a roadtrip to Florida and of course photos. Concert tickets and photos, and a comedy show we attended with his two sisters and their husbands. My husband does not like to be in photos -__- so hopefully the officer won't be hung up on that. I made my husband the beneficiary of my life insurance so I will try to get an official statement from the company. Also birthday cards (funny story I bought two birthday cards: one from wife to husband and another from in-laws to son-in-law, and since my mom doesn't speak or read English, she signed both her name and my dad's name on the birthday card I was going to give to my husband hahaha). Lastly, maybe we will ask our long mutual friend for a letter. Also, since we are over a year out of college and he has student loans to pay, we can't afford a house so we are living with his parents. So maybe a letter notarized stating that I have lived there since April. Also my bills and whatnot.

I hope this is enough to prove that we are legitimately married.
    Forms sent 6/2
    Forms received 6/4
    Received texts/e-mails 6/6
    PD 6/5 & 6/6

Biometrics letter in mail 6/17 w/ 6/28 date
    SR 9/2
    Contacted Congressman 10/1
    Called the Congressman's office 10/10

        Hi,
Today, i just reached out to my Congressman in Long Island, NY. PD 7/3/17
My question to you: how helpful was your Congressman's office? Did they ask why you were asking for expedited processing? did they say if they get many requests like this for
USCIS? How long did they take to act on your request for assistance?
Thanks! And good luck on your interview!!
