I am on an H1B, Do I need to file form I-765?

I am currently on an H1B visa, valid until August 2018. I am getting married in first week of November. We will be concurrently filling I-130, I-130a, I-485, g-325a, I-693 and I-864. I am planning to send my packet in first week of December. My question is do I need to file form I-765?

I have noticed some people have gotten their GC in 6 months. For some it's taken more than a year. What happens after August 2018 if I don't get an interview date by then? Do I need to renew my H1-b?

Any help will be appreciated.

If your AOS is not approved by 08/18 and you didn't file i-765 then you will have to renew your h1-b. I dont understand why you would not file i-765 since it is free when you pay for i-485.
