  • What can I get for Medical Insurance for Adjustment of Status

    Hi guys!

Sorry i keep on asking questions. Before I left my home Country (Canada) I got a Travel Insurance Policy. I was on a 3 month trip to AU and NZ and it covered USA as well. My travel insurance is from Allianz. It was valid for 6 months and I came to USA to visit my husband towards the end of my trip. We didn't have solid plans then until we decided to do Adjustment of Status.

Now that I officially filed my adjustment of status,

    1. What insurance could I possibly get to get coverered?
    2. I have an option to extend my coverage from Canada but Im not sure if its still considered as travel as I'm applying for Green Card

    Any help would be appreciated..

    Thanks!

You can also call into any insurance companies. There js open enrollment coming up in November. And if you havent been here that long, you can sign up anyway. Each state might have a different policy, but can answer your questions.

The best thing would be to see if you can get on your spouse's employer insurance. Until you have received your green card, Social Security number, or a job that can offer coverage, you are not eligible for regular domestic insurance. You can purchase a short term plan similar to Allianz for the time being. Look at www.Insubuy.com. The website gives info or you can call and speak to an agent. Check with your husband first and see if they have the option to add a spouse or if the enrollment period is coming up with his employer.
Just my opinion... Use at your own risk...
