  • Received green card, here's my timeline for reference (June submission)

Received my green card today. I've read a lot of useful info from this forum, and would like to share my timeline for whoever might need it. Generally, there is a long wait for EAD, but I see some submissions in September got EAD already, so maybe the situation is different now. Green card depends on where you're located and the local office's processing ability. It's a long wait, so during the process just be patient. Unless you have some urgency to expedite, just try to relax and enjoy life, don't waste time to communicate with USCIS if it's still within the time given or appear normal from other people's cases, because that will only make you more frustrated. Anyways, good luck to everyone!

    My timeline:
    Married to USC
    AOS from F1
    Base in California
Mail to Chicago lockbox (concurrent filing)

5/31/17 mailed out all documents (except 693)
6/7/17: PD date (as printed on the mail notice, not the date package arrive in USCIS)
    6/11/17 received e-notification (3 case numbers)
    6/18/17: biometrics notification - scheduled on 7/3
6/23/17 RFIE (about my birth certificate translation)
    7/3/17: Biometrics done
    7/5/17: RFIE response mailed
7/11/17: Date of notice of RFIE response received, and case under review again. Also mentioned i693 missing, but submission is required upon further instructions or at interview (this is the date appear on the letter, actual mail received a few days after)
9/18/17: i485 online status change: interview scheduled on October 19
10/5/17: EAD approved (Also submitted SR this day without any info about the approval. I never hear back about this SR)
    10/10/17: Received a mail about EAD (765) approved (I didn't apply for 131)
10/12/17: Received EAD card in mail
10/17/17: i765 online status change telling me the EAD card has mailed!!
10/19/17: interview day/ online status change - green card ordered
    10/23/17: official notice of approval (485 & 130) arrived
10/27/17: online status change early morning - green card mailed on Oct 24
10/27/17: received green card in mail

    Congratulations

Certainly agreed to try not to think about it too much. Its something beyond control. My biggest enemy is boredom. I wish i could look for a job haha.

Did you hire a lawyer or you filed it by yourself

I filed everything by myself. It's nothing complicated if you follow instructions provided for every form.

Plan for four months to get a work permit and study a certificate or something might be good

Thanks for sharing. Your EAD took four and a half months?! Damn, glad you managed to get it. Still waiting on mine.

Would you mind sharing what they asked at your interview? And which field office?

Click on my profile and see my posts, I shared my interview in an earlier posts under June submission.
I got my EAD a week earlier than the interview, but it's useful as I can get an updated social security card and changed my name, and also get my driver's licence. I didn't wait for green card to do everything, as i can't wait any more. I mentioned changing name during the interview, and I see the officer note it down, and I thought green card will reflect the new name, but it doesn't. I hope there's no problem for me to travel, as my passport is not changed yet, the same as green card, only social security and driver's licence are changed.

Sounds weird to me, but you should follow the notice anyways.
