  • Applying for Jobs

I want to start working as soon as possible after I get my EAD.

When would you suggest is a good time to start applying for jobs? Would you wait till you have the EAD in hand?

Can you start applying for jobs and interviewing without it? Letting the potential employer know the situation?!

    What's everyone's suggestions and experiences?

There is no need to discuss your immigration situation with any employer

Go ahead and start sending out resumes and begin interviewing for positions. There usually is a lead time between starting the process and being given a job offer (other than warm body jobs)

If you are given a job offer early, that is before your EAD arrives, delay starting work until your EAD arrives

Once you are being onboarded, they will provide you with Form I-9, which you will fill out with the appropriate EAD information

Yes I would start to apply for jobs after AOS was applied around 2 months later and make sure HR know your situation then you may not need to wait so long for your EAD and it would be an acceptable waiting period for employer too. However, send out resumes first anyways.

Great question! I was suggested to my husband to start job hunting. You can start applying without it, employers won't ask for that kind of detail until you after they made a job offer.
If I got the job, I would delay filling out the I9 until I have the EAD.

I agree, I wouldn't share my immigration status with a potential employer.
