  • SR about EAD taking too long to process

    Hi everyone!

So my PD is June 29th
Haven't had any updates about my work authorization since we submitted the application. I submitted an online inquiry about status of my EAD on October 25th.

    Case history states now:

Oct 25th inquiry been assigned to an officer for response
Oct25th we SENT a response to your inquiry about the status of your EAD
Oct 25th your inquiry was complete

Does this mean they sent an actual EAD? The status of my i765 still says they received the application... It's been 5 days since I submitted the inquiry. Anyone had the same experience? Any suggestions on what to do next?

I would give it some time. If you submitted your SR on 10/25, it may take over 20 days for USCIS to get back to you. I submitted my SR on 9/2 and in the e-mail it said that I should receive a response by 9/24. I never got a response but I did receive my interview notice 10/10. I would wait or I would contact your congress representative. You find out who is your representative by googling it.
    Forms sent 6/2
    Forms received 6/4
    Received texts/e-mails 6/6
    PD 6/5 & 6/6
NOA between 6/8 and 6/12 (I was out of town)
Biometrics letter in mail 6/17 w/ 6/28 date
    SR 9/2
    Contacted Congressman 10/1
    Called the Congressman's office 10/10
    Interview letter 10/10
    Approval Letters for I-765 and I-131 10/16
    Received EAD/AP card 10/17
    Interview 11/8 RFE after
    New Card Being Produced 11/16
    Conditional GC received 11/24

But if the inquiry status says it’s been completed, doesn’t it mean that they suppose to send me something? Explanation of why it’s taking so long or an actual approval notice?

Again, you received it 0n 10/25, it might arrive soon but that does not mean it is the EAD. Also, the website case status is not very reliable. In my case, everything got updated AFTER I received my EAD on 10/17. Be patient or, like I said, contact you congress representative. For one, it is extremely unlikely that they got done with your SR the same day you submitted it. Just my opinion but I have never gotten a status update like that. Good luck.
